Hazelnut Torte

Hazelnut Torte! A delicious and simple dessert to share with family and friends. Once cooked, top with your choice of berries and natural yoghurt or whipped cream and enjoy!

This is a fairly fool proof recipe (provided you set the timer on the oven) which I stole from Mum! We’re lucky to have a constant supply of nut products at our place from Mum & Dad (who have a walnut & hazelnut business in Marlborough), which makes whipping this up even easier as most of the ingredients are good old pantry staples.

Ingredients

  • 175g ground hazelnuts

  • 100g sugar

  • 1 Tbspn cocoa

  • 100g melted butter

  • 1 egg

  • Pinch of BP

Topping

  • Berries (blueberries/strawberries/raspberries)

  • Thick natural yoghurt or whipped cream (optional - sometimes I just crumble a chocolate flake over the blueberries, as shown in the picture)

  • Drizzle of maple syrup/honey/chocolate flake/anything you like (optional)

Method

  • Place all ingredients into a bowl

  • Mix

  • Pour mixture into a 20cm diameter cake tin (greased and lined with baking paper)

  • Bake 150 degrees C for approx 30 minutes

  • Cool on rack

  • Once cool, place your choice of toppings on top and serve
