Magic mince

For those who like it, mince is such a versatile meat. We have it with burritos, nachos, spaghetti (and meatballs)

While the meals look very different, the way I flavour the mince each time is pretty much the same! And the family loves it. See below for recipe. Adjust amounts of flavourings and ingredients to suit you, this is just a guide. Get creative and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 T oil (rice bran)

  • 2 tsp crushed garlic

  • 3 tsp ground paprika

  • 2 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • 1/2 tsp dried chilli flakes (optional)

  • 1 tsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp worcestershire sauce

  • Cracked pepper

  • Approx 500g pkt lean beef mince

  • 1 can Red Kidney Beans, drained/rinsed

Method

  • Heat oil in pan

  • Add crushed garlic and other dried herbs/spices. Stir.

  • Add mince, stir until cooked/browned.

  • Add drained, rinsed red kidney beans. Stir.

  • Add soy and worcestershire sauce and cracked pepper. Stir.

  • Serve

Serving suggestions

  • Burritos: serve mince in burritos along with chopped fresh vege (rocket, red onion, tomato, cucumber, capsicum, grated carrot), grated cheese, hummus/mayo. We put this all out on the table for everyone to help themselves.

  • Nachos: serve mince with Nacho chips (heated for 5 mins in oven - careful not to burn), or chop pita pockets into shapes, drizzle oil and crisp into ‘chips’ in oven. Add grated cheese, sour cream or ricotta and a side salad. Again, all placed on the table for everyone to tuck into themselves.

Enjoy! At Your Table.
