A tasty treat - Oaty Chocolate Chip Cookies

Delving into Mum's well loved recipe book years ago, I found this recipe for Oaty Chocolate Chip Cookies. They are quite delicious. Quick and easy to make and full of simple ingredients you'll find in the pantry. I'm not posting this recipe for its nutritional value, but rather because they are a tasty family favourite. Enjoy them for what they are - a treat to be enjoyed in moderation

Ingredients

  • 1 C S.R flour
  • 1 C rolled oats
  • 1/2 C brown sugar
  • 1 T golden syrup
  • 100g butter
  • 1/2 C chocolate buttons (chopped roughly)

Method

  • Melt butter and golden syrup together
  • In a separate bowl mix flour, oats, sugar and chocolate together
  • Make a well in centre of dry ingredients
  • Pour butter/golden syrup mixture into well
  • Mix
  • Roll into balls, and place on a greased oven tray
  • Press down gently on each cookie with a fork
  • Cook in a moderate oven (approx 160 degrees celsius) for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown
  • Remove from oven and leave on tray for a few minutes to cool slightly
  • Place cookies onto a rack to cool completely
  • Store in an airtight container

Tips

  • If you don't have self raising flour, you can make it by adding 1 1/2 tsp of baking powder to every 1 C of plain flour.
